boots bags and bubbles

What: Attending a fund-raising event with a friend.
Where: Earl's V Lounge
When: Cocktail hour
Why: Donating gently used boots and bags to Dress for Success, an organization that helps under-privileged women find jobs.
Verdict: Great cause and great food. Might have to come back and try out some other items from their menu, which is possible because I got an Earl's gift-card in my goodie bag!

Lychee and mint mojito. More minty than sweet. Very refreshing.

Milk chocolate fondue with vanilla shortbread and fresh strawberries.

Oops. Dropped my shortbread into the milk chocolate. How silly of me. Now I have to scoop up all that chocolate before it goes to waste. What a horrible, horrible thing to do. Hee.

would you like poutines with that?

What: Poutine
Where: Downtown
When: Dinner
Why: Is there any reason why I shouldn't indulge in the country's national snack food? Well, besides the high cholesterol and the increased probability of getting a heart attack..
Verdict: Good gravy goodness

Ordered the large original poutine to share with a friend. So good.
They also servie "steamies," which are hot dogs steamed inside the bun.

is that a weiner in my baguette

or are you just happy to see me?

What: Parisian hot dogs
Where: Cafe Crepe
When: Downtown
Why: Trying something different.
Verdict: My dining buddy has the hot dog and claimed that it was delicious, but you can't really taste the cheese.

Everything tastes better with ketchup! Although, I'm sure that if you were in Paris and did this to your hot dog, they would throw you in jail for committing horrible atrocities against their food. But, I doubt they eat hot dogs in Paris.
I had the lemon and sugar crepe. Light and simple.

mexican crawl

What: Mexican food
Where: Topanga's
When: Hippie dippie part of town
Why: On a Mexican crawl
Verdict: Large portions to be had here. It kinda sucks that guacamole cost extra because the green sauce, which is just watered down guacamole, was just alright. Also, my chicken burrito was a little dry. A large helping of guacamole would have helped to make the chicken go down. "A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down, the medicine go dowwwwn!" Ah, there are so many life lessons you can learn from Mary Poppins.

Free chips and salsa to start off.
Nothing like a glass (or three) of sangria to wash away the evils of the work day.
My (very large) chicken burrito with re-fried beans, rice and salad. The sour cream and olive was soon removed and place onto my dinner buddy's plate. Forgot to tell the waiter no sour cream and no olive; I am not a fan.

just like how the french do it

What: Cafe Crepe
Where: Downtown
When: Between lunch and dinner.
Why: Because we weren't hungry enough for a full meal, and we didn't want to spoil our appetite before dinner.
Verdict: Another favourite spot to grab a quick lunch or snack. How can you not love crepes?! By the way, you can get a dish of one of the best french fries I've ever had. Not too oily, crispy and hot. Just the way I like them.

 Nutella and coconut crepe.

Maple syrup crepe with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.

 Chestnut cream crepe. Delicious.

Some of the best fries I've ever had.

twenty ten begins

Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous New Year, full of lots and lots of good food!

One of my resolutions: keep up with my food blog. I'm already getting complaints for not posting frequently enough. Peeps need to chill with a glass of sangria, it will be up when I say so! Pffft! =P
